Welcome to the oldest Kyokushin website in the world. It has been in operation continuously (though not very active since 2000) since 1995. If you're interested in the history of this site, go to this page.
Original intro in 1995
"Since the death of Mas Oyama in April 1994, there has been an extensive dispute regarding the leadership of the International Karate Organisation (IKO), and this has had many international repercussions. In the past too, many Kyokushin luminaries left the Honbu fold for various reasons, and founded their own styles. This website seeks to illustrate, in as apolitical a manner as possible, Kyokushin and its descendants worldwide. I will make every effort to avoid passing judgement. This doesn't mean it won't happen, but so far, others have been far more judgmental than I have been."
2018 update
In the ensuing years, the claims to leadership seem to have settled down a bit, with what seems to be an uneasy truce between all the factions, and a mutual agreement to just sort of ignore the others' existence, while also competing against them for world recognition. There have been some name changes, logo changes, kata and technique changes, but underneath, the spirit of it is still Kyokushin.
KYOKUSHIN IS KYOKUSHIN. OSU!
Full disclosure
I have been, since I started this website as a 1st kyu, a member of the IFK. I am now 5th dan. I therefore have have a very solid allegiance and this may well slant parts of these pages. That is unavoidable, and I make no apologies for that since these pages are, after all, also a reflection of my experience of Kyokushin karate. I do not, however, intend to fight the battles of others for them, and I nonetheless hope to keep this as apolitical as possible as a form of Kyokushin genealogy and documentary. It will not be complete, but I'm hoping everyone will pitch in and help to make it as comprehensive as possible.
